It’s not just a sense of patriotism but really, I do feel like the world would be a very different place without H&M. Anytime I feel a tad lonely in big London, there’s nothing like walking into an H&M store to make me feel better again and remind me of Sweden. So I was happily surprised to find out that they are launching H&M Home in February at their webshop. 4 collections will be on sale, Nature, Youth, Classic and Design. Youth is the one above with the pillow illustrations by Liselotte Watkins on the far right. Love it!

My biggest (fashion) regret ever, all categories is when I went to New York in 2005 and my one goal was to get a hold of Tom Ford’s Mombasa bag. It was his last collection for YSL, so it was always destined to be a legendary bag. I made friends with a lovely soul at Bergdorf’s who even said he who sell it to me for 50% off, even though the sale wasn’t on yet. Yet, somehow, I don’t even know why, (I will never know why) I didn’t go for it. I left that bag at Bergdorf’s and have regretted it ever since. Literally.
Before this incident I also had an obsession with Gucci’s bamboo handle bag for years. I remember desperately trying to find it for years on end. The hunt culminated yet again in New York, though during another visit when I stumbled across one from the new collection. I don’t regret not buying that one as much as I do the Mombasa, but still. Fresh pain and all that.
So when I came across this baby at netaporter it sort of feels like I now can put my bag anxieties to bed, cured by this soya cream, wooden handle tote by Miu Miu. Price of the medication is £670.

What began as a PR trick; creating a limited amount of jeans with red seams spiralled into a fully fledged fashion project led by Jonny Johansson and Micke Schiller. Acne is now arguably Sweden’s mostest fashion export, snapped up initially by Colette and now you can get their stuff at netaporter. This ruffled dress will set you back £480.

Second to my love for bags come the cardis…! There is something about that preppy-ish, sleek & simple Jackie O- sloaney thing with a twist that only a cool cardigan can bring to look. This one from Clements Ribeiro is of course sold out at netaporter. No surprise there.

Making history

There is a privilege in experiencing today: one of the most historical moments in modern history and certainly of my generation.

It is hard to find words that can sum up what has really happened today with Barack Obama becoming America’s 44th president and also the first coloured President ever. Colour, race, sex should never matter but nevertheless history has made it matter. Today is the day of change and shift. It is fair to say that our modern history as we know it has been changed forever.

I remember once reading a fashion bloggers post about how when she was in her early teens, she had no clue about any of the big brands and she never really cared until later in life when they pretty much became her meal ticket. Perhaps the times are different for my generation because my very first love was Louis Vuitton’s bucket bag which I very unsubtly asked for as a birthday slash confirmation gift.  I believe that was the moment when I fell in love with both bags and Louis Vuitton.
Now, a little bit older (almost ten years ago since I got that first bag) and with a better taste (of course), I still love Vuitton. This 2009 ready to wear shoe is just another reason to fall in love all over again.
